Batik is the process of creating art on fabric by applying melted wax to silk, creating separate sections in which applying dye creates pictures and figures. Marbling Technique with Ricky Cook Peterson

|
Marbling is an ancient art that involves floating colors on size or thickened water. You will start by marbling several sheets of paper, then learn to mix the size and the paints. Finally, you will marble socks and scarves. If time permits, you will create journals and cards from the marbled paper. (3 classes)

Using pastel in a painterly method, students will become more familiar with color and texture, under-painted supports, and the various types of pastels.
