FAQs (most recently asked questions on top):

ART CLUBS:
• Are we allowed to do this project with our after-school art clubs?
Yes!  Many of the teachers expressed that they would like this option.

BUSINESS SPONSORSHIPS:

Each school will need a business sponsor to help offset the costs of the project.  The sponsorship fee is $1500 and may come from one source or multiple sources.  The Business Sponsor will be promoted throughout the project through our marketing campaign and will also be featured as the host location for the traveling exhibition of the chairs Summer 2012 bringing new attention to their business through this unique community outreach component.

What if the school can’t find a $1500 Business Sponsor?

Chesterfield Arts is not new to this type of project. We are a non-profit arts organization that has helped in securing business sponsors who have made many amazing community engagement events and projects happen.  We will be your resource, as you will also be ours, in helping to network with parents and businesses to identify the best sponsor for your school.  This will be a great opportunity for you to connect with new sponsors through this project who will then become a new resource for you in the future.  If we have exhausted all avenues for sponsorship of the chair through your network of resource ideas, Chesterfield Arts will turn to our Board of Directors for help in securing the sponsor funds for your school’s chair.

Do we have information to provide to the potential Business Sponsors?

Chesterfield Arts will provide your school with Business Sponsor packets for you to review and to hand out.  They will outline all of the fantastic perks that the sponsor will receive by funding your school’s chair (e.g. hosting location for the chair during the summer traveling exhibit, sponsor name mentioned in audio tour, signage at respective school and at Chesterfield Arts, not to mention a tax write off in working with a school and a non-profit, etc).

Can the PTOs provide Chesterfield Arts names of potential Business Sponsors for Chesterfield Arts to pursue?

Yes!  Chesterfield Arts would love for you to provide us with possible names of businesses or parents who might want to sponsor the chair, and we will do the legwork.

ART MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES:

What materials can the art teachers use on the fiberglass forms?

The Cowpainters, the fiberglass manufacturing company creating our forms, has completed over 350 public art projects.  They are famous for the cows they created in Chicago.  They have an “Artist Hotline” as well as a “Prep and Painting Tips” link to highlight recommended materials for fiberglass. If there are further questions on materials, please feel free to consult with me.

How can our school pay for the supplies the art teacher needs to complete the chair?

The art teachers will need to gather their ideas for the project and estimate the supplies they need.  The cost of your supplies will vary depending on what you want to put onto your fiberglass chair.  We estimate that the cost may range anywhere from $100 to $500.  If you already have the supplies, great!  If not, Chesterfield Arts and the PTO can put together wish lists to place on your school’s website.  Also, Chesterfield Arts will provide a formatted letter of those wish list items for the art teacher to send home to the parents.

PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS:

What if there are more than 20 schools who want to participate?

Participating schools will be accepted on a “first-come, first-serve” basis.  The first 20 signed letters of agreement will be the first 20 participating schools.  After the initial 20, any school still wanting to participate will still have the opportunity to do so, but will need to pay an additional $800 fee to cover the cost of the chair.  So there are definite advantages to getting in early!
