  "Maura" was dedicated on June 26, 1999 in honor of the 10th anniversary of the City of Chesterfield and was brought into the community through generous donations received from Chesterfield businesses and residents.
  
  Sculptor Don Wiegand's sculpture "Maura" is bronze depicting a young girl running, behind her is her "shadow."  On June 26 at 10:00 am every year, her actual shadow meets her sculpted shadow in an amazing demonstration of nature and art.
  

As an artist, Don Wiegand continues to evolve powerfully within the American figurative tradition. His extraordinary works of commemorative sculpture and portraiture have drawn international acclaim not only for their perfection of execution, but also for the emotional response their unveilings capture. He links his creative powers to meticulous research—capturing the organizing form on an emotional level in combinations that render his subject's living character and emotions.

Portrait sculptures of Charles A. Lindbergh, Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway, Christopher Columbus, August A. Busch, Jr., Pope John Paul II, and Bob Hope are among his many distinguished achievements, and demonstrate the rang of Mr. Wiegand's talent. Senior heads of state, corporate leaders, national museums, and over 500 private collectors in many countries have brought international recognition to this master sculptor who still lives and works in his native Chesterfield, Missouri.

Mr. Wiegand has received numerous awards nationally and is a member of the National Sculpture Society.
