Chesterfield Arts owns or has helped to place nearly $5 million worth of public art throughout the City of Chesterfield for our residents to enjoy.

Born in Ocampo, Guanajuato, Mexico, Simon Ybarra's professional training consists of the following: Escuela de Bellas Artes, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico; and additional studying under Cossio del Pomar, Chavez Morado, Pablo O'Higgins, and Angelica Archipenco. 

He taught with Jaime Pinto, Diego Rivera, Alfarro Siquerrios, Jose Clemente Orozco, Rufino Tamayo, and Sterling Dickinson.

Simon Ybarra has been an exchange teacher at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, has taught at Peoples Art Center, St. Louis, Missouri and the Adult and Clayton High School in Missouri.  He was also a faculty member at John Burroughs School until his retirement in 1975.

He has done commissions for the St. Louis Chancery Office of the Archdiocese; Missouri Baptist Hospital; St. Luke's Hospital; Monsanto; Continental Telephone Company, Wentzville, Missouri and for many private collections here and abroad.

In addition to having one-man shows at The Sculpture Gallery, Inc. in St. Louis, he has had shows in Mexico City, Chicago, New York, and Dallas.
