Mission & Programs
Our Mission is to provide quality and diverse programming in the visual, performing and literary arts, to promote public art and arts education, and to act as a resource for arts information in the West County region.
Programs
Performing Arts
Chesterfield Arts presents a diverse mix of performing arts programs in music, dance and theater at various venues within the community.
- Arts Alive! brings a diverse mix of performing arts programs in music, dance and theater to the West County area. Past performances include members of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, Alexandra Ballet, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Metro Theater and St. Louis Irish Arts, just to name a few.
- Fridays Uncorked is a new live performance series that kicked off in 2007 featuring cabaret-style music by regional performers in the intimate setting of The Gallery at Chesterfield Arts.
The Gallery
The Gallery at Chesterfield Arts exhibits quality artwork by professional artists from the region and presents an annual exhibit showcasing student artwork. New exhibits are featured every eight weeks giving the community the opportunity to experience the diversity of talent from the St. Louis Region.
Arts Education
Chesterfield Arts offers art classes for both children and adults, in a variety of media and at every skill level, taught by professional local artists. In addition, CA partners with COCA, Craft Alliance, Saint Louis Art Museum and others on educational programming.
Oudoor Art
Chesterfield Arts has been working diligently over the years to develop Chesterfield as a "city of art." Since 1997, we have coordinated the acquisition and placement of over 15 world-class sculptures. This showcase of public art includes the work of George Rickey, Ernest Trova, William King, and Emilio Greco. Businesses throughout Chesterfield have joined our efforts to support and present artwork in their lobbies and on their grounds.
Literary Art
The Chesterfield Writers Guild (CWG) is an affiliate chapter of the St. Louis Writers Guild (SLWG) with the specific mission of providing and promoting a community of writers of all levels of experience and genres, including fiction,non-fiction, memoirs, and poetry, within the West County and greater St. Louis areas.
Resource
Chesterfield Arts is an important resource to our community. Through the development of a regional arts consortium, Chesterfield Arts acts as a facilitator, offering a calendar of art events ad partnership opportunities to businesses, area arts organizations, artists and performing groups from the St. Louis region.
In 2000, Chesterfield Arts convened the Arts Roundtable of Chesterfield, an informal group representing arts and heritage organizations and artists in this area. This group produces a bi-annual publication, Calendar of the Arts, which circulates in the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce magazine "Out & About" and through various community venues.
Chesterfield Arts is funded exclusively by grants from the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis; the Arts and Education Council; the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency; the City of Chesterfield; and by individual and corporate donations.
